“Everything is energy and that's all there is to it. “
- Albert Einstein
When to Consider Reiki?
Your nervous system feels fried. Sleep feels shallow or broken. Rest never feels complete. Energy stays low even after time off.
Your mind will not slow down. Thoughts loop. Overthinking interferes with focus, decision making, and emotional balance.
Your body holds constant tension. Shoulders, jaw, chest, or gut feel tight. Stress can show up as headaches, fatigue, or physical discomfort.
Your recovery feels slow. Injury, illness, or burnout lingers. You feel frustrated by lack of progress despite effort and self care.
What is Reiki?
Reiki is an ancient Japanese energy therapy that aims to calm your nervous system and support your body’s natural ability to recover from stress. A typical Reiki session is 45 to 60 minutes in a calm environment where you lie comfortably while someone guides your body into deep rest. The measurable benefits of Reiki mainly stem from a deep relaxation: reduced tension, lower stress, and a sense of mental reset—similar to meditation, massage without pressure, or a very good nap. Reiki is essentially a structured relaxation session that many people find soothing and restorative. You don’t need to believe anything about energy for it to feel good.
Who can benefit?
Anyone seeking a full nervous system reset … due to insomnia, work and family demands, physical injury and illness, caregiver burnout, unresolved personal conflict etc. The fall-out from staying in this hyper-aroused state is a myriad of physical and emotional problems as well as (ultimately) an inability to operate at an optimal level in any area of life.
Why people love Reiki.
-Reduces anxiety
-Helps quiet obsessive thoughts
-Decreases tension in the body by activating the parasympathetic system (rest and recovery)
-Frequently induces a fresh perspective on projects and challenges
-Supports faster physical recovery from injury or surgery
What it’s not…
While results often feel phenomenal, Reiki is not a medical treatment, diagnosis, or cure. It is considered a complementary wellness practice.
What to expect during your session….
Each session begins with a 10 to 15 minutes discussion to highlight your unique needs and intentions for the day.
You remain fully clothed lying on a massage table with shoes and watch removed.
The atmosphere is soothing and calm like a typical spa experience.
Heath will move her hands (hovering either just above or lightly placed on you) in a series of positions, staying in each one for a few minutes.
About Heath
I am a Reiki Master and Family Nurse Practitioner who has lived in the Charleston area since 2001. After completing my Master’s Degree at MUSC I worked as an NP at DHEC and Roper St. Francis. Having always had an interest in alternative healing techniques (I am also certified in Healing Touch) I chose to revamp my career goals after COVID-19 to begin an energy-focused practice with Charleston Reiki. I can honestly say it is the most rewarding and enjoyable “job” I’ve ever had! Seeing both the immediate and sustained benefits Reiki has brought my clients (from all walks of life) has been extraordinary and I feel fortunate to have found this path and love sharing it with others.
